Librarian On-Call: Dispatches From The Information Landscape will feature reports and ruminations from a university librarian who has been helping people find the information they need for more than 35 years.

I have seen amazing changes in the information landscape since my first paid gig in a library when I was a college freshman alphabetizing Library of Congress catalog cards.

Fast forward: online full-text databases with millions of articles, books, and documents, Google, YouTube, Facebook, MySpace, Twitter, and thousands of other platforms for instant information, 24/7.

Guest bloggers are welcomed and encouraged to contribute: librarians, students, faculty members, indeed anyone with a story or an opinion about the information landscape. Please send your posts to librarianoncall68@gmail.com.

And what exactly is the “information landscape” ?  Rather than giving you a few well-chosen quotations and links, do what I did: type information landscape (in quotes) on Google and take a look….

Thanks for visiting.
